I will be giving a course in Mediaeval painting (Byzantine style), which will be immediately followed by a course in Japanese painting given by artist Francesca Arcidiaco. EXHIBITION 1: VIVERE IN BLU
9 to 14 November - Church of Santa Caterina. OPENING OF EXHIBITION: 9 November at 6pm. Free entry.
FREE DEMONSTRATION OF ICON TECHNIQUE: 11 November at 11am. An exhibition of contemporary paintings, but also icons from the Byzantine tradition, with their symbolic message associated with lapis lazuli. EXHIBITION 2: ARBOR VITAE
15 to 24 November at Casermetta Baluardo Santa Croce, on the walls of Lucca. OPENING OF EXHIBITION: 15 November at 6pm. Free entry. FREE DEMONSTRATION OF JAPANESE TECHNIQUE: 16 November at 11am. ICONOCOM FILM: 18 November at 6pm. Free entry. A painting exhibition celebrating nature and the National Tree Day. Opening times: every day from 11am to 7pm. Free admission. Exhibition curated by Anima Mundi Pax. Plus two other events: - Demonstration of classic Japanese ink painting techniques (sumi-e) by Francesca Arcidiaco, a painter and specialist in oriental culture, Thursday 16 November at 11am (meeting in Italian and English). In the image we are all blind, a performance by experimental director Gianmarco Donaggio; an audiovisual and multisensory experience in which the artist explores the world through the optics he has created, bringing to light unsuspected possibilities of vision, Saturday 18 November at 6pm (duration 30 minutes).
